All the drillings planned on the EAIIST raid have been completed. Most of the scientific (field) work was completed with a 180-metre borehole at the Paleo site, a regular accumulation site where the team spent a few days. A total of 900m of core was brought back, taken down to a depth of 200m. All this thanks to the expertise of Philippe Possenti, the team's master driller.

It is difficult to know at this stage the age of the bottom ice at the megadune sites because it has a significant impact on snow accumulation, but it should be several thousand years old. That's one of the reasons why we're here, to understand how megadunes influence the accumulation...
